EMUI 5.0 Update – Release Date, Eligible Devices, Features, Download

EMUI 5.0 was first introduced by Huawei back in November last year alongside the launch of its flagship Mate 9. Soon after the release, the company made official the list of Huawei phones to get Android 7.0 Nougat update. As we all know, Huawei phones runs on its own custom UI dubbed as Emotion UI or EMUI on top of Android OS and the latest EMUI 5.0 will be based on Android 7.0 Nougat. To remind you, Huawei P8 Lite is the company first Android device to run on Android Nougat based EMUI 5.0 out of the box. Huawei will slowly roll out this EMUI 5.0 update for its range of Android devices. To confirm whether your phone is eligible or not, read on.

  • Huawei P9
  • Huawei P9 Plus
  • Huawei P9 Lite
  • Huawei Nova
  • Huawei Nova Plus
  • Honor 6X
  • Honor Note 8
  • Huawei G9 Plus

The EMUI 5.0 update brings a lot of improvements in interface design and security. Company claims that with EMUI 5.0 ‘the user can activate 90 percent of the main functions in only two or three clicks. There is an inclusion of ‘App Lock’ which lets you lock various apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, or any other apps with a unique password. It is the same App Lock feature Xiaomi introduced along with MIUI 8 update for its range of Mi & Redmi phones.

As the EMUI 5.0 is completely based on Nougat, it brings all the features like Multi-window, quick settings shortcuts, quick app switching, Google Now in tap and more. The quick settings shortcuts allows users to access any of the deeper menus behind the quick settings by pressing and holding.

EMUI 5.0 Update – Release Date, Download

Huawei has already started sending the EMUI 5.0 update to its various smartphones. The flagship smartphones will be upgraded by first Quarter of this year while the mid-range devices by second Quarter this year. We hope that Huawei includes more devices to the above list in the next coming days.
