The Huawei Mate 10 Pro, P20, and P20 Pro along with other flagship smartphones have been under Android 9.0 Pie beta program for a while. Today, Huawei has started rolling out stable version of Android 9.0 Pie based EMUI 9.0 update to these devices.
A total of seven Huawei & Honor phones are currently receiving Android 9.0 Pie treatment. The list includes Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, P20, P20 Pro, Honor Play, Honor 10, and Honor View 10. Initially, the update has been pushed to European countries while users in other regions should see an incremental roll-out after that. However, there is even a report that the Honor View 10 users in India also receiving the Android Pie based EMUI 9.0 update.
The new update is pushed via OTA (over-the-air). So, users can also manually check for updates from the path Settings > About System Updates > Check for updates. To remind you, the same update was first available to Chinese variants of the P20, P20 Pro and Mate 10 Pro earlier this month and it weighs around 3.94GB. So, make sure there is enough internal memory to download and install the firmware.
Android 9.0 Pie will be bringing an all-new UI to the phone along with improved gesture navigation features, New Quick Settings UI design, Redesigned volume slider, Advanced Battery with AI Support and more.
The EMUI 9.0 update, on the other hand, also offers features such as new SmartCare AI learning, Password Vault, HiVision Visual Search, Digital Balance dashboard, GPU Turbo 2.0, Wireless universal screen projection through Miracast, Gaming Mode, Multi-task-switching between each app, HuaweiShare, and more.
Be patient, though, as rollouts is happening in a phase-wise manner which takes couple of days or more to appear on each and every eligible Huawei smartphone. In case, if you have already received then do share your experience in the below comments.
