Android Pie-based EMUI 9 update released for Nova 2s, Mate 9, P10, Honor 10 series devices

It’s only a few days ago Huawei announced its first foldable smartphone, the Mate X and now the Chinese smartphone giant has started rolling out Android Pie-based EMUI 9 firmware update to Nova 2s, Mate 9, Honor 10 and P10 series devices. Initially, the update has been released for Chinese handsets while other global devices will follow soon.

The new Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 update is rolling out to at least eight Huawei & Honor devices. The list includes – P10, P10 Plus, Honor 9, Honor V9, Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, Mate 9 Porsche Design, and Nova 2s.

The Mate 9 series smartphones were announced back in 2016 and came pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat. They later got updated to Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 OS in 2017 and now they are getting upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie OS.

Huawei P10 and P10 Plus also receiving its second major Android OS update. Both the devices announced back in February 2017 running on Android Nougat out of the box.

EMUI 9 brings several new features and performance improvements. Compared to EMUI 8, EMUI 9 boasts 25.8% faster overall responsiveness, 12.9% more fluency in operation, and app startup times that have been cut on average by 102ms. There is also a GPU Turbo 2.0 feature which takes the gaming experience to the top level. Apart from this, the EMUI 9 also brings AI features, support for face unlock, WeChat fingerprint payment, Digital Balance dashboard, and more. On top, of course, it brings all Android Pie goodness to these eligible devices.
