EMUI 9.0.1.172 update for Honor 8X; users complains lag, freeze & network issues

Honor 8X is the company’s most successful smartphone in the mid-range price segment. It is also the Huawei’s first mobile to feature ViLTE (Video over LTE) in India. The Honor 8X runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2 skin out-of-the-box and recently upgraded to Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 OS. The device is also confirmed to get the latest EMUI 9.1 update.

Today, the Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has started rolling out a new software update to the Honor 8X in India. The update brings the version EMUI 9.0.1.172(C675E5R1P1) and is about 555MB in size.

Coming to the changelog, it reads nothing more than a regular security patch update. Honor 8X users who have already installed the update have been reportedly facing bugs and issues. Recently, Honor View 10 users have also reported that the May 2019 security update brings problems like lag issues, fast battery draining, notifications toggle are not working, and more.

Now, the Honor 8X having problems after upgrading to May 2019 security update. A lot of issues have been reported on Honor forum as well as Twitter. Network problem, apps freezing or take much time to open, apps crashing, drain of battery, and slow camera is the most common issues faced by Honor 8X users after the recent EMUI 9.0.1.172 update.

Regarding this, Honor has shared possible solutions. For hanging issues, Honor suggests avoid playing games, Optimize phone, and lock screen when unused. Moreover, users with network issues have been suggested to reset the device’s network settings. To do so, go to Settings > system > reset > network settings reset.
