Huawei these days is very busy in rolling out the EMUI 9.1 update to its devices. It was the Huawei Mate 9 to get EMUI 9.1 update last week and now the Chinese telecom tech is pushing the same to Huawei P10 Plus. It’s happy to see that the older devices have been treated with the latest software updates. Huawei P10 Plus was initially launched at the MWC 2017 running on Android Nougat-based EMUI 5.1 OS. Since then, the device already received two major Android updates – the Android 8.0 Oreo and Android 9 Pie.
The EMUI 9.1 update for Huawei P10 Plus brings the version number EMUI 9.1.0.252. Currently, the update is pushed for the India region while other global regions are expected to get the update in the coming days.
If you’re a P10 Plus user, then you can manually check for updates via Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check for updates. Alternatively, users can also take the help of HiCare for requesting the EMUI 9.1 update.
Coming to features, the EMUI 9.1 brings Huawei’s new EROFS file system, GPU Turbo 3.0, the AR Measure app, Dual-View Video along with improved performance, new wallpapers and icons.

The GPU Turbo 3.0 cuts down on SoC power consumption by 10% and optimizes “the underlying system performance to provide a continuous gaming experience.” Furthermore, the number of Android games to utilize this latest GPU Turbo feature has been increased from 6 to 25. Fortnite, Knives Out, Crazy Taxi, Real Racing 3, Into the Dead 2, NBA 2K19, Subway Surfers, FIFA Mobile, and more are the newly added to the list of GPU Turbo 3.0 supported games.
Coming to the new EROFS File System, it helps to improve the smoothness of Huawei mobile phones. It claims that the random read speed is 20% higher than the EXT4 file system, up to 63.3MB/s, to ensure that the system is not only fluid but also saves space. Plus, the read-only memory design isolates outside interference for added security in your system files.
