Honor 30S with Kirin 820 SoC, 5G support launched – Price, Specifications

Huawei sub-brand Honor announced its first smartphone in the Honor 30 series – the Honor 30S. It is the mid-range smartphone and also the company’s first device equipped with the Kirin 820 5G SoC. This chipset provides dual-mode 5G support to the device. Quad rear camera setup with a 64MP AI main camera, Android 10 (Huawei Mobile Services), 4000mAh battery are the highlights of the Honor 30S. Alongside the Honor 30S, the Chinese telecom giant also introduced the Honor Play 9A at the same launch event.

Honor 30S – Specifications

The dual-SIM (Nano) Honor 30S features a 6.5-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) display with 90.3 percent screen-to-body ratio and 405ppi pixel density. Under the hood, there is an Kirin 820 5G SoC (1 x Cortex-A76 Based 2.36GHz + 3 x Cortex-A76 Based 2.22GHz + 4 x Cortex-A55 1.84 GHz) coupled with ARM Mali-G57MP6 GPU.

On the storage front, the Honor 30S offers 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB/256GB internal memory. There is no microSD card slot for further memory expansion. It runs on Android 10 with the company’s own Magic UI 3.1.1 skin on top.

Coming to the most important feature i.e. camera, the Honor 30S houses a quad rear camera setup. This includes a 64MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide camera with f/2.4 aperture, 8MP telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture, 3x optical zoom, 2MP 4cm macro camera with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

The Honor 30S features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, backed by a 4,000mAh battery and is just 8.58mm thick. The connectivity options include 5G, Dual 4G, VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C.

Price and Availability:

The HONOR 30S comes in Black, Green and Blue colors, is priced at 2399 yuan (US$ 338 / Rs. 25,470 approx.) for the 128GB storage version and the 256GB storage version costs 2699 yuan (US$ 380 / Rs. 28,655 approx.). It is already up for pre-orders on Vmall, Suning, JD, and Tmall in China and will go on sale starting April 7. There are no details regarding the announcement in the global markets including India.
