Honor 7X gets Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 Beta update in India

Honor 7X users in India will be glad to hear that the company has started recruiting beta testers for Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 update. Being a mid-range smartphone, the Honor 7X users will really love the update as the device is more than 2 years old since the time of its official announcement and it already received a major update called Android 8.0 Oreo. Android 9 Pie will be the second major update as the Honor 7X was announced running on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.

Honor 7X Android 9 Pie EMUI 9 update

Honor 7X was among the 11 Huawei and Honor devices receiving Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.1 beta update in China. Moreover, its successor – the Honor 8X have already received the Pie goodness in China and the Honor 7X expected to get soon. Now, the Honor 7X users in India have something to cheer about as the company announced the Pie beta program promising the stable update in the coming weeks.

Before we take you to the procedure on how to apply for EMUI 9.0 beta program, make sure your device is running on latest software i.e. EMUI 8.0.0.381 and you have performed back up of all your important data.

To sign up for the beta program, you need to download and install the Huawei Friendly User Test app. Check here for APK file.

Once the app is successfully installed, sign in with your Huawei ID and tap on “Join Project”. Here you need to choose the Honor 7X EMUI 9.0 beta project. That’s it! Huawei will automatically send you an OTA update once the application is accepted by the Huawei Developer Team.

Huawei recently announced the list of Huawei devices eligible to get Android Q update. Unfortunately, the Honor 7X was not on the list. So, this could mean that the Android 9 Pie is the last major upgrade for Honor 7X.
