Earlier this week, Huawei rolled out EMUI 9.1 update for at least eight Huawei and Honor devices at a time. Today, another Honor device is made eligible for the update. It is none other than the affordable Honor 8A aka Honor Play 8A. Honor 8A was announced in January this year running on Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 out-of-the-box.
The new update for Honor 8A pops-up the build number to EMUI 9.1.0.234(C185E3R2P1) and is about 2.01GB in size. As the update size is huge, it is recommended to use WiFi instead of mobile data and also ensure there is enough battery to perform the update process.
Although Huawei has started rolling out the August security updates to its devices, the EMUI 9.1 update for Honor 8A still carries the July Patch. Apart from this, there is no new feature included with the update apart from regular bug fixes and performance improvements. There is no GPU Turbo 3.0, EROFS file system, and ARK Compiler like EMUI 9.1s on other Huawei devices.

The latest EMUI 9.1 update for Honor 8A / Honor Play 8A comes in batches. So, not all users will get the update at a time. Users have to keep patience and wait for a couple of days to appear on your device.
To remind you, Huawei at its Annual Developer Conference 2019 event announced the tenth iteration of EMUI skin called the EMUI 10. EMUI 10 is based on Android 10 and brings several new features including the Dark Mode, Multi-Screen support, Improved Security, Always-On display, and more. Huawei also unveiled the eligible devices and release date for EMUI 10 at the same event.
