Huawei’s sub-brand Honor announced a new entry-level smartphone in Russia dubbed as Honor 8S. The device has also been seen listed on Honor’s Suadi website, hinting at the impending launch in the country. The Honor 8S is essentially the same phone as Huawei Y5 2019 which was announced a couple of days ago. A 5.71-inch HD+ display, MediaTek Helio A22 process, and a 3020mAh battery are the highlights of the Honor 8S.
Honor 8S – Specifications
The dual-SIM Honor 8S comes with a 5.71-inch HD+ 19:9 curved glass display with a water drop notch. For better performance, there is a 2GHz Quad-Core MediaTek Helio A22 12nm processor coupled with IMG PowerVR GE-class GPU and 2GB of RAM. It also offers 32GB of internal storage expandable up to 512GB via microSD.
The Honor 8S will run on EMUI 9 with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. The phone features a unique double texture back made out of plastic.
For photography, there is a 13-megapixels rear camera with LED flash, f/1.8 aperture, and a 5-megapixels front-facing camera for video calling. The device measures 147.13 x 70.78 x 8.45mm and weighs 146g. The connectivity options include 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and Micro-USB 2.0. The Honor 8S also comes with 3,020mAh battery and face unlock support.
Price and Availability:
The HONOR 8S comes in Black, Blue and Gold colors, is priced at 8490 Rubles (US$ 130 / Rs. 9,190 approx.) and is already on sale in Russia. The company, as part of the launch offer, is giving away Honor Band 4 completely free for first few Honor 8S buyers. It should roll out in other markets soon.
