Honor, the sub-brand of Huawei has started rolling out the much-awaited EMUI 9.1 software update to Honor 8X in China. The GPU Turbo 3.0 and EROFS file system are the highlights of the EMUI 9.1 update. Alongside the Honor 8X, there are four other smartphones receiving the EMUI 9.1 upgrade. This includes the Huawei Nova 4, Nova 3i, Maimang 7, and Enjoy 9 Plus.
The EMUI 9.1 update is still based on Android 9 Pie and brings improved performance, new wallpapers, GPU Turbo 3.0, and many others. The third-generation of GPU Turbo 3.0 supports a total of 25 games such as Fortnite, Real Racing 3, PES 2019, and more. It also manages to reduce power consumption on the device during gameplay by up to 10% without needing to compromise on graphics performance, allowing users to game for a longer period of time.
Honor 8X EMUI 9.1 update is released via OTA (over-the-air) in a phase-wise manner. Thus, it might take a couple of days or even a week to appear on each and every Honor 8X smartphone. Users can also manually check for OTA update through Settings > About phone > System updates,> Check for updates.
Moreover, the Honor 8X users can also request the EMUI 9.1 OTA update through the HiCare app. You can check the following link to download and install the EMUI 9.1 software using the HiCare app.
To remind you, the Honor 8X was announced back in September 2018 running on Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2 OS out of the box. The device was upgraded to EMUI 9.0 OS earlier this year. Honor 8X is a mid-range smartphone featuring a 6.5-inch Full HD+ 19:5:9 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by the Kirin 710 SoC.
Other specifications of Honor 8X includes a dual-rear camera (20MP + 2MP), 4GB/6GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB internal storage, and a rear fingerprint sensor. There is a 3750mAh battery on the back with fast charging technology.
