After finishing the EMUI 9.1 beta testing on the first batch of Huawei and Honor smartphones, today the company has started rolling out the EMUI 9.1 beta update to the second batch of handsets. Currently, the Honor 8X, Honor 9, and Honor V9 have been made eligible for the internal testing beta program of EMUI’s latest version. Recently, the Huawei Mate 20 series received the stable version of EMUI 9.1 firmware.
The latest EMUI 9.1 OS is still based on Android 9 Pie. Currently, the EMUI 9.1 beta program is announced only for China while it is expected that the global variants will also be soon made eligible for this internal testing program.
Users who wish to be a part of this beta test have to be on EMUI 188.8.131.52/EMUI 9.0.163, otherwise, they will not receive a version push. You would also need to ensure that your phone is not rooted and that you have enough internal storage space to successfully receive and install the update.
The following models of Honor devices receiving the EMUI 9.1 beta update:
- Honor 8X (JSN-AL00)
- Honor 8X (JSN-AL00a)
- Honor 8X (JSN-TL00)
- Honor 9 (STF-AL00)
- Honor 9 (STF-AL10)
- Honor 9 (STF-TL10)
- Honor V9 (DUK-AL20)
- Honor V9 (DUK-TL30)
The updates very likely do not support rollback, so you will have to wait for further updates if you wish to leave the beta and go back to stable; as such it is not recommended that you try these out on your daily driver. Also, one should be able to share the bugs and issues if any which is the main objective of any beta program.
Honor didn’t share the update changelog, but it will surely bring most of the EMUI 9.1 features including the GPU Turbo 3.0 technology, OneHop for file sharing, Car Key, Phone Clone, One Touch, and more. You can check here for a complete list of EMUI 9.1 top features.
