At the time of the announcement of Honor Magic 2 last month, Honor promise to release a new user interface called Magic UI 2.0 to the flagship. Now, it seems the wait is awaited as the Honor Magic 2 starts receiving a new software update which replaces the current EMUI 9.0 to Magic UI 2.0. Magic UI 2.0 is based on the top of Android 9.0 Pie. Alongside, the latest update also brings November 2018 security patch to the Honor Magic 2.

If you’re lucky enough to own Honor Magic 2, then you will see a new notification on your screen. This will prompt you to install software bearing version 9.0.0.128 (C00E129R1P18). The update is about 214MB in size and is rolling out via OTA in a phase-wise manner. So, it might take a couple of days to hit each and every Magic 2 device.

This is the first time Huawei sub-brand Honor decided to depart from EMUI and start using a new UI called Magic UI 2. Although it have a completely new name, it still looks, feels, and behaves like the same EMUI 9 which you find on other Huawei & Honor devices.

There are also features like YoYo and the real-time in-call voice translations which the Honor Magic 2 users start experiencing after installing the new firmware. Apart from this, the new Magic UI 2.0 brings a new color scheme, icons, fonts and much more.

To remind you, the Honor Magic 2 has a slider design which lets it adopt a bezel-less screen similar to that of Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. A total of 3 front cameras and sensors are allocated on the second half of the phone which are only visible if you slide the phone down.

The dual-SIM Honor Magic 2 flaunts a 6.39-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) AMOLED display with a 91.5% screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, there is a HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC coupled with a 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. There is no microSD card slot for memory expansion.

On the camera department, Magic 2 offers a triple camera setup – 16MP + 24MP + 16MP on the rear panel. It also includes three cameras 16MP + 2MP + 2MP on the front. It is backup by a 3,500mAh battery with 40W Magic Charge support.
