Huawei sub-brand Honor has quietly announced a new budget-centric smartphone in China dubbed as the Honor Play 3e. It is the lighter variant of the Honor Play 3 which was announced earlier this month. With a rather nice design and some decent specs, the Honor Play 3e is one of the best affordable smartphones to grab around $100.
Honor Play 3e – Specifications
The Honor Play 3e sports a 5.71-inch smaller display compared to that of Honor Play 3 6.39-inch display. The screen has a 1520 x 720 pixels resolutions and features a water-drop notch. It has dual SIM support and runs on Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1 on top.
It is powered by octa-core Mediatek Helio P22 SoC processor coupled with up to 3GB of RAM and 64GB internal memory. The storage can be expanded by up to 512GB via microSD slot.
While the Honor Play 3 offered triple-cameras, the Honor Play 3e has a single 13-megapixels rear camera with f/1.8 aperture. There is also a 5-megapixels front-facing selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.
The connectivity features on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, GLONASS,3.5mm audio jack, dual-SIM and micro USB port. On the back, there is a 3020mAh battery which is well enough to provide for a mid-range phone like this.
The Honor Play 3e is not equipped with a fingerprint sensor, there is only face unlock as a security feature. The device is just 8.45mm thick and weighs 146g.
Price and Availability:
The HONOR Play 3e comes in Black, Gold, and Blue colors, is priced at 699 yuan (US$ 98 / Rs. 7,075 approx.) for the 2GB RAM with 32GB storage version and the 3GB RAM with 64GB storage version costs 899 yuan (US$ 126 / Rs. 9,095 approx.). It is already available in China starting today.
