Honor Play is one of the unlucky ones to miss the Android 10-based EMUI 10 update. Announced back in August 2018, the Honor Play features the company’s flagship chipset i.e. the Kirin 970. Thus, with a high-end chipset, most of the users have anticipated the Android 10 update. Unfortunately, Huawei makes it clear that the device will not receive the latest Android update.
Huawei Y9 2019 was also one of Huawei’s devices confirmed not to get the Android 10 update. But, thousands of Huawei Y9 2019 users signed Change.org petition for Android 10 update and guess what? Huawei took this as a priority and confirmed the Android 10 for Y9 2019.
Seeing this, Honor Play users have also started the same petition asking the Chinese smartphone giant to release Android 10 update or else give bootloader unlock option. Thousands of users have already signed the Change.org petition and the number is constantly increasing on a regular basis. As of writing, over 2400 Honor Play users have already signed the petition.
It was really heartbroken when the Honor 8X, the low specs 2018 Honor smartphone has already received the stable EMUI 10/ Android 10 update and the Honor Play which has better specs than the Honor 8X is left behind. This campaign will surely make Huawei rethink and consider Honor Play for Android 10 update.
To remind you, Honor Play comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ LCD display with 2340 x 1080 pixels resolutions. It is powered by Kirin 970 SoC and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2 out-of-the-box. It offers a 16MP rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, and a secondary 2MP rear camera. There is also a 16-megapixels front-facing camera. The device has up to 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. A 3750mAh battery provides juice to the device.
