Honor WaterPlay 8 Tablet and Watch Magic Smartwatch Announced

Huawei sub-brand Honor announced the much-awaiting flagship smartphone dubbed as Honor Magic 2 at an event in China on Wednesday. To make the launch event more memorable, Honor unveiled several other products too. They are an Honor WaterPlay 8 Tablet, an Honor Watch Magic smartwatch that is similar to the Huawei Watch GT and an Honor FlyPods which have similar design to that of Apple’s AirPods. All these products are already up for pre-order in China.

The second-generation Honor Waterplay 8-inch full-HD (1,200 x 1,920 pixels) tablet comes with the same IP67 certification for water-resistance as the 10.1-inch model unveiled last year. The tablet comes with a dual rear camera setup with 13MP + 2MP sensor and an 8MP sensor on the front. This 8-inch tablet is powered by a 5,100mAh battery which is very enough to provide backup for an entire day.

Under the hood, there is a Kirin 659 octa-core processor paired with a Mali T-830 GPU and 4GB RAM. On the storage front, the Honor WaterPlay 8 has up to 128GB internal storage which can be further extendable up to 256GB via a microSD card. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo OS with EMUI 8.0 skinned on the top. The connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C and NFC.

The Honor Waterplay 8 tablet comes in three variants: 4GB+64GB Wi-Fi, 4GB+64GB LTE, and 4GB+128GB Wi-Fi. The three options are priced at CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 15,900), CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 19,000), and CNY 1,899 (roughly Rs. 20,100), respectively.

Next in the line to be part of the Honor Magic 2 launch event is the Honor Watch Magic. As said above, it is quite similar to that of Huawei Watch GT. On the display front, the Honor Watch Magic flaunts a 1.2-inch circular AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels.

Other specifications of Honor Watch Magic include a 16MB RAM, 128MB storage, and a 178 mAh battery which provides backup for 7 days on a single charge. It also features NFC connectivity, Huawei Pay, and PayPal support. It also has a heart rate sensor on the back.

The Honor Watch Magic comes in Black color with Silicon Band that costs 899 yuan (US$ 129 / Rs. 9,500 approx.) and the Silver color with Leather Band costs 999 yuan (US$ 143 / Rs. 10,560 approx.). It is already available for purchase in China.
