Huawei has officially confirmed that it will unveil the new version of its operating system i.e. the EMUI 9.0 software at IFA 2018 scheduled from 31 August to 5 September in Berlin. The Chinese smartphone giant also confirmed that the EMUI 9.0 update will be based on Android 9.0 Pie. Google announced the Android 9 Pie update earlier this month and the Pixel phones as well as Google partnered OEM devices have already started receiving the update via OTA.
“Huawei will release EMUI 9.0, based on the latest Android 9 system, at the IFA in September,” said a Huawei spokesperson.
In addition, a Huawei official also confirmed that the Huawei P20 series flagship smartphones are first to get the latest firmware starting from September (it’s not clear if this will be immediately after IFA or later on).
Soon after, the Android 9.0 Pie based EMUI 9.0 update will be released to Mate 10 series as well as the Mate 9 series smartphones. However, a tentative time-frame hasn’t been provided yet for this devices.
There is no word on when the update will arrive to other smartphones from the company, but it could arrive before the end of this year. You can check list of expected Huawei phones to get EMUI 9 Android Pie Update.
To remind you, Huawei recently announced the GPU Turbo feature and is already rolling out to most of its devices. So, there is a good chance that EMUI 9.0 will be released to a wide range of smartphones. There is also report that the Honor 10 and Honor View 10 will be among the first devices from the Huawei’s sub-brand Honor to get the taste of Android 9.0 Pie based EMUI 9.0 update.
