Huawei Mate Xs is the company’s latest foldable device with Kirin 990 5G – Price, Specifications

Huawei adds another smartphone to its foldable device portfolio. The device is dubbed as Huawei Mate Xs. The phone is mostly similar to the last year’s model but with slight improvements here and there. The Huawei Mate Xs has announced alongside half a dozen other devices namely the Honor View30, Honor 9X Pro, Huawei MatePad Pro 5G, Huawei MateBook X Pro 2020, Honor MagicBook 14 and more.

The successor of Huawei Mate X comes with an upgraded hinge structure, and improved cooling system, while other things like screen, cameras, and overall design are still similar. Unfortunately, due to Huawei still having its name in the U.S. Entity list, there will be no Google Play Store or Services within the device.

The Huawei Mate Xs delivers a true FullView experience with an 8-inch outwards-folding display (2480 x 1148 pixels resolution). The device when folded turns into a 6.6-inch display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The rear display has an aspect ratio of 25:9.

Considering the processor, the Mate Xs is powered by Kirin 990 5G SoC with ARM Mali-G76MP16 GPU, Dual Big Core + Tiny Core NPUs (Neural-network Processing). For storage, there is 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 512GB internal storage. There is also support for the NM card for memory expansion up to 256GB.

For photography, there is a 40MP f/1.8 main shooter, 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens with OIS and 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide snapper. As an all-scenario camera system, it also supports up to ISO 204800 for capturing incredible photos in low light environments.

Just like the Mate X, the Huawei Mate Xs don’t feature any front cameras – you just need to fold the device and take selfies looking at the back of the device.

The smartphone runs on the company’s own EMUI 10.0.1 on top of Android 10 and also becomes one of the first Huawei devices equipped with Huawei AppGallery, the Google Play Store alternative.

The Huawei Mate Xs sports a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, and a 4500mAh battery with support 55W fast charging system. The device measures 161.3 x 78.5 (146.2 unfolded) x 5.4-11mm and weighs 300g.
