After several leaks and rumors, Huawei has finally announced the latest generation P series smartphones at an event in Paris yesterday. Currently, two flagships have been announced under 2019 lineup of P30-series smartphone, the Huawei P30 Pro and Huawei P30. According to Huawei, the P20 and P20 Pro are the “most advanced camera smartphones to date”. With camera technologies like SuperSpectrum Sensor, extreme optical SuperZoom lens, and a new time-of-flight makes the P30 series camera a tough competitor to any professional camera. A 6.47-inch display, Kirin 980 SoC, 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage are the highlights of Huawei P30 Pro flagship. Alongside the new P series flagship lineup, Huawei also introduced Watch GT Active, Watch GT Elegant, FreeLace & FreeBuds Lite earbuds, and a 12,000mAh power bank at the same launch event.
Huawei P30 Pro – Specifications, Features
The dual-SIM Huawei P30 Pro flaunts a 6.47-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) OLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It features bezel-less front with dewdrop notch and has an in-display fingerprint sensor underneath the display. Under the hood, there is a Huawei’s Kirin 980 SoC coupled with 720 MHz ARM Mali-G76MP10 GPU and 8GB of RAM. Further, the device comes in a choice of 128GB/256GB/512GB variants without any microSD support.
The biggest highlights of Huawei P30 Pro flagship is its cameras. The Huawei P30 Pro comes with 4 rear facing cameras: an 8-megapixel 5X telephoto lens, a 20-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 40-megapixel wide-angle main lens, and a Time-of-Flight lens to capture accurate depth information for photos featuring bokeh. The camera setup enables 5x optical, 10x hybrid, and 50x digital zoom. On the front, there is a 32MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The device runs on Android 9.0 Pie OS with company’s latest EMUI 9.1 skin on top. It has IP68 ratings for water and dust resistant, offers connectivity features like Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz) (wave2), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS (L1 + L5 dual band), NFC, USB Type-C (GEN1). The handset is just 8.41mm thick and weighs 192g.
As far as battery performance goes, the P30 Pro has a 4,200mAh battery with fast-charging using a 40W supercharger. The company claims that the device can be charged from 0 to 70 percent in just 30 minutes with the help of this 40W supercharger.
Price and Availability:
The HUAWEI P30 Pro comes in Black, Pearl White, Aurora, Amber Sunrise and Breathing Crystal colors, is priced at Euros and will be available starting at 999 Euros (US$ 1,128 / Rs. 77,820) for the 128GB storage version 1099 Euros (US$ 1,240/ Rs. 85,600) for 256GB and the top-end 512GB version costs 1249 Euros (US$ 1,410/ Rs. 97,290). It will be available for order starting today. The company has already listed the 128GB storage version in Breathing Crystal or Aurora color variants on an Indian website, so we can expect it to launch in India soon.
