Huawei on Thursday announced its latest flagship series, the Huawei P40 at a global online event as promised. As ‘P’ stands for photography, the Huawei P series always bought great evolution to the camera and the Huawei P40 series did the same. Huawei and its partner Leica starting a new chapter in the smartphone camera department with the announcement of the P40 series. Huawei P40 Series Display and Performance
Huawei P40 and P40 Pro comes with an innovative “refractive matte finish” that resists fingerprints. On the other hand, the Huawei P40 Pro+ has a Nano-tech Ceramic back which is extremely scratch-resistant and durable with a “diamond-like shine” and “sapphire-like toughness”.
Coming to display, the Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ comes with 6.58-inch (2640 x 1200 pixels) Flex OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Considering the standard P40, it comes with a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels.
All the three smartphones are powered by Kirin 990 5G SoC and feature an in-display fingerprint reader. The Huawei P30 Pro and P30 Pro+ are IP68 certified for dust and water-resistant while the P40 has IP53 ratings.
Camera and Storage
Huawei P40 comes with the triple rear camera setup. This includes a 50-megapixels RYYB, f/1.9 primary camera, 8-megapixels telephoto shooter and 16-megapixels ultrawide-lens.
Huawei P40 Pro comes with the quad rear camera setup. The sensors include a 50MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture, 40MP ultra-wide cine camera with f/1.8 aperture, 12MP RYYB periscope camera with f/3.4 aperture, and a ToF camera for depth sensing.
At last but not least, the Huawei P40 Pro+ has a Penta-camera setup on the back. This includes a 50MP RYYB Ultra Vision camera with f/1.9 aperture, OIS, 40MP ultra-wide cine camera with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP periscope camera with f/4.4 aperture, OIS, 10x optical zoom, 8MP telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture, OIS, 3x optical zoom, ToF camera for depth sensing.
On the front, there is a 32-megapixels camera with f/2.2 aperture, IR Depth / Gesture camera for Pro bokeh. It also supports 4K video recording and Faces Unlock.
Software
The Huawei P40 series smartphones run on Android 10 with the company’s own EMUI 10.1 skin on top. Followed by Huawei Mate 30 series, this would be another flagship series missing the Google Play Services. Instead, the devices come preinstalled with the company’s own app ecosystem called Huawei AppGallery.
Huawei is also making partnerships across various companies to improve its AppGallery and replace Google’s ecosystem. Moreover, Huawei also announced a Google Assistant alternative called Celia supporting languages like English, French, and Spanish. It can handle anything from basic tasks (e.g. adding reminders, making calls) to AI-powered features like AI lens and AI touch shopping.

Price and Availability:
The HUAWEI P40 and HUAWEI P40 Pro come in Black, Deep Sea Blue, Ice White, Silver Frost, and Blush Gold colors. The P40 8GB RAM with 128GB and P40 Pro 8GB RAM with 256GB are priced at €799 (US$ 875 / Rs. 67,120 approx.) and €999 (US$ 1095 / Rs. 82,125 approx.), respectively. Both the models will go on sale starting from April 7th.
The HUAWEI P40 Pro+ comes in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White colors, is priced at €1399 (US$ 1530 / Rs. 1,17,420 approx.) for the 8GB RAM with 512GB storage version and will be available from June 2020.
