Huawei quietly launches the P30 Lite, starts taking pre-orders

Huawei today launches the Huawei P30 Lite smartphone and it is already up for pre-orders on the company’s website in Canada. Moreover, several online retailers in the Philippines also made the device eligible for pre-order. The Huawei P30 Lite was not the part of the P30 and P30 Pro announcement event in Paris on Tuesday. But, the Chinese smartphone giant waste no time as the P30 Lite is already official within the two days of the P30 launch event. It is a version of Huawei Nova 4e that was introduced earlier this month.

Just like the P30 and P30 Pro, the Huawei P30 Lite also comes with triple rear camera setup. However, the megapixels counts of the three sensors are different in all the three devices. The P30 Lite comes with a Kirin 710 SoC, 6.15-inch FHD+ waterdrop display, up to 6GB RAM and Android 9.0 Pie OS.

Price and Availability:

The HUAWEI P30 Lite comes in Midnight Black, Pearl White and Peacock Blue colors, is priced at 16,990 Philippine Piso (US$ 322 / Rs. 22,220 approx.), available for pre-order already and goes on sale from early April. It is also available for order in Canada at CA$450 (US$ 335 / Rs. 23,140 approx.) without any contract or with a contract from Freedom Mobile, Fido, Koodo and Videotron with free HUAWEI Band 3 Pro with all pre-orders till April 10th.

Looking at the CPU configuration of four Cortex-A73 cores at 2.2 GHz and four Cortex-A53 units at 1.7 GHz, the chipset is the HiSilicon Kirin 710 coupled with Mali-G51 GPU and 6GB of RAM. It has 128GB of internal storage with support for microSD card (up to 256GB). Speaking of the display, it is 6.15” LCD with Full HD+ resolution and tall 19.5:9 ratio.

The main highlight is the camera system at the back, which features triple lenses for greater versatility when shooting stills and video. A 24-megapixel primary sensor is included alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for capturing portrait-style photos with creamy bokeh. There is also a 32MP front camera which sits on the waterdrop notch at the top of the display.

The Huawei P30 Lite runs on Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 on top. In comparison, the P30 and P30 Pro run on the company’s latest skin i.e. the Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.1. It also features hybrid dual SIM support and a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. At last but not least, the P30 Lite is back up by a 3340mAh battery which is well enough to provide backup for an entire day.
