Huawei on Monday announced its first flagship smartphone with an in-display selfie camera at an event in China, as expected. Being dubbed as Huawei Nova 4, it’s not the only device to feature a hole in the display carrying a selfie camera. Last week, Huawei sub-brand Honor also semi-announced the Honor View 20 and Samsung also announced the Galaxy A8s, both of which offer a punch-hole display. A 25MP in-screen selfie camera, 48MP rear camera, and a Kirin 970 SoC are some of the highlights of Huawei Nova 4 smartphone.
Price and Availability:
The Huawei Nova 4 comes in Honey Red, Blue, Black and White colors, is priced at 3099 yuan (US$ 449 / Rs. 32,190 approx.) for the 20MP camera version and the 48MP camera version costs 3399 yuan (US$ 492 / Rs. 35,300 approx.). It will be available for order today and will go on sale from December 27th. There are no details when the smartphone will reach to other global markets including India.

The dual-SIM (Nano) Huawei Nova 4 comes with a 6.4-inch full HD+ (1080 x 2310 pixels) display with a 19.25:9 aspect ratio and support for 96 percent NTSC colour gamut. It has an 86.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. The latest Nova 4 is powered by the same Kirin 970 chipset as the Huawei P20 family but coupled with more generous 8GB of RAM. It comes in single 128GB variant without any support for microSD card for further memory expansion.
On the camera front, the Huawei Nova 4 comes with a triple rear camera setup – a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture), a 16MP 117-degree ultra-wide angle camera (g/2.2 aperture), and a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. These camera are accompanied with a single LED flash. On the front, there is a 25MP in-screen selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Huawei also announced that there will be a cheaper version of the Nova 4 that will offer a 20MP primary sensor instead of a 48MP sensor. The rest of the cameras remain the same.
The Huawei Nova 4 runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0.1 OS on top. The connectivity options includes Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, and USB Type-C. It is just 7.77mm thick and packs with a 3750mAh battery with fast charging support.
