Huawei finally announced its much awaiting Mate 20 series smartphones at an event in London on October 16. Surprisingly, the new flagship series includes a total of four brand new phones – the Huawei Mate 20, the Mate 20 Pro, the Mate 20 X and the limited edition Mate 20 RS Porsche Design. All these devices are powered by Huawei’s latest Kirin 980 SoC and features a triple camera setup on the back. Built on a 7nm process, the Kirin 980 chipset offers a CPU that is 75 percent more powerful than the Kirin 970 and features a GPU that is 46 percent more powerful. Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro specs and features
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes with a 6.39-inch (3120 x 1440 pixels) QHD+ OLED 19.5:9 DCI –P3 HDR display with 820 nits brightness. On the other hand, the Mate 20 has a slight bigger display of 6.53-inch with a screen resolution of 2244 x 1080 pixels. Although the Mate 20 X is bigger in size and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design is expensive, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is Huawei’s actual flagship phone for 2018.
The Mate 20 Pro comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage while the Mate 20 has up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Both the devices have microSD card slot for further memory expansion. On the camera optics, the Mate 20 Pro sports a 40MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, 20MP Ultra Wide Angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, 8MP Telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, laser focus, phase focus, contrast focus, AIS (Huawei AI Image Stabilization). On the front, there is a 24MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture. Considering the Mate 20 cameras, it includes a 12MP + 16MP + 8MP camera setup on the rear side and a 24MP front camera.
Both the devices runs on Android 9.0 Pie based EMUI 9.0, features hybrid dual SIM support, IP68 ratings for water and dust resistance and Dual Speakers support. On the security features, the Mate 20 Pro has in-display fingerprint support while the Mate 20 has a regular fingerprint scanner on the rear panel.

The Huawei Mate 20 comes in Midnight Blue, Black and Twilight colors, is priced at 799 Euros (US$ 925 / Rs. 67,820 approx.) for the 4GB RAM with 128GB storage version and the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version costs 849 Euros (US$ 983 / Rs. 72,070 approx.).
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes in Midnight Blue, Black, Twilight and Emerald Green colors, starts at 1049 Euros (US$ 1215 / Rs. 89,050 approx.) for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version. Both these will go on sale in select markets such as U.K., France, Italy and United Arab Emirates starting from October 16th.
Huawei Mate 20 X, Mate 20 RS Porsche Design
The Huawei Mate 20 X is launched as a competitor to Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The Mate 20 X not only features a bigger display but also supports a stylus, aka Huawei’s M-Pen. This dual SIM device (hybrid) flaunts a 7.2-inch FHD+ OLED display, powered by Huawei’s Kirin 980 SoC, and has 6GB of RAM with 128GB storage. Like Mate 20 Pro, this also comes with a 40MP rear camera, 20MP Ultra Wide Angle lens, 8MP Telephone lens and a 24MP selfie camera. It is powered by a 5000mAh battery.
At last but not least, the Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design comes with a 6.39-inch QHD+ OLED display, powered by Kirin 980 SoC, and has 8GB of RAM with 256GB/512GB of internal storage (expandable up to 256GB with NM card). It has a similar camera that too of Huawei Mate 20 X and Mate 20 Pro featuring 40MP + 20MP + 8MP and a 24MP front camera. A 4200mAh battery provides juice to the device.
Price and Availability:
The Huawei Mate 20 X comes in Phantom Silver and Midnight Blue colors, is priced at 899 Euros (US$ 1041 / Rs. 76,275 approx.) and will go on sale in select markets such as U.K., France, Italy and United Arab Emirates starting from October 26th.
The PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 20 RS comes in Black and Red (Mainland China only) colors, is priced at 1695 Euros (US$ 1959 / Rs. 1,43,920 approx.) for the 8GB RAM with 256GB storage version and the 512GB version costs 2095 Euros (US$ 2422 / Rs. 1,77,875 approx.). It will be avaiable from November 16th in select markets.
